|Tue 29 May 2018
In this session with Aileen Scoular and Suzanne Al-Gayaar we'll cover:
- choosing appropriate language for different types of audience & developing a basic brand 'style guide'
- different ways in which words can be used to enhance your business through blogging, on your website, Social Media, articles for professional journals, providing expert quotes and press releases
- We'll also share simple hints & tips on how to write about you or your business and when, how and why to use a professional writer.
Aileen Scoular has been working with words for over 30 years. She started as a teenager at DC Thomson in Dundee and moved to London at 20, where she worked in PR, B2B publishing, consumer magazines and customer publishing. She is now freelance and focuses mainly on writing branded content and internal communications for print magazines and websites, creating winning words for some of the UK’s best-known retailers, finance providers and membership organisations – these include John Lewis, M&S, Virgin, Harveys, RBS and Pets at Home, and the National Trust for Scotland, English Heritage, Legion Scotland, and the Freemasons. In 2005, she qualified as a garden designer and still writes occasional gardening articles for consumer and lifestyle magazines. Recent commissions have been both interesting and diverse: vertical gardening, bunny bonding, the value of assistance dogs to children with autism and veterans with PTSD, energy-saving measures for farmers and large estate owners, and ethical letting. She can be contacted on email@example.com and via LinkedIn.
