Oh, what a night!

Oh, what a night!

It was a fantastic, and hugely successful evening for the GrowBiz contingent at the Business Women Scotland & Women's Enterprise Scotland Awards at the Grand Central Hotel, Glasgow.

The evening included speeches from Nicola Sturgeon, Jessica Butcher co-founder of Blippar and Jayne-Anne Gadhia CEO of Virgin money – all recognising the challenges for women in business but also challenging us all (men and women) to be role models for the next generation of entrepreneurs.

Kirsty Lunn of Molke ( was the winner of the first Award of the evening to be announced - Best use of Social Media. Much deserved after a fantastic social media campaign which ran alongside their successful crowdfunding project, a highlight of which was Crowdfunder UK MD Phil Geraghty posing outside his offices in a pair of specially made Molke pants..

A valued member of our Mentoring Team, Clair Smith, was given much deserved recognition, winning Mentor of the Year - which was great timing, on the evening before National Mentoring Day!  - as well as fantastic recognition for the GrowBiz mentoring programme.

As if all that was not enough, the final Award of the evening, the Lifetime Achievement Award, was won by our fabulous CEO, Jackie Brierton,  and presented to her by the First Minister, Nicola Sturgeon. This award provides recognition of the women who have spent their working lives helping to make the business ecosystem more aware and responsive to the needs of women, using their experience and expertise to enable women to participate in the business economy and develop resilient and sustainable businesses which benefit us all.

We could not be more proud of Jackie for this recognition of her work supporting clients and her community; the official and unofficial support and mentoring she provides to a diverse range of individuals and organisations and recognised her tireless lobbying at local, national and international levels to champion rural enterprise.

A huge well done to all of the finalists and winners, on an evening which celebrated and marked the business achievements of women, and the invaluable contribution which they make.
