We were delighted - in a week where we had already had some success at the Businesswomen Scotland/Women's Enterprise Scotland Awards - to win the Social Impact Business of the Year Category of The Courier Awards, which we attended in Dundee last weekend.
When we applied for the Awards, we had to provide an over view of GrowBiz, advise of our key achievements in the last twelve months, and state what we believe makes us stand out from competitors.
We had a lot to say! - From the growth of GrowBiz over the last ten years, and particularly since recently having received LEADER Funding; the setting up of the Care & Wellbeing Co-operative in Highland Perthshire; winning three awards at the Scottish Mentoring Network Awards, and being contracted by SSE to manage the Griffin & Calliachar Windfarm Fund.
But perhaps GrowBiz's biggest achievement is to gain recognition from the Scottish Government and the European Network for Rural Development as a role model for rural enterprise support across the UK and Europe, being cited in the European Commission's latest Rural Review as an example of the visionary new business support required for rural areas.
These, together with our development plans, moving forward, mean that GrowBiz will continue to develop its unique services in response to client needs, strengthening the rural economy and encouraging collaboration and partnership within the community.
To win this award was fantastic recognition of the work which the GrowBiz team carry out in Perthshire, of our achievements, and of our future plans.
