About GrowBiz

Community-based enterprise support for rural businesses throughout Scotland.

GrowBiz was founded in 2007 to help local people build businesses and enterprises for themselves.

Based in Perthshire but offering support services across all of rural Scotland, in the last five years the organisation has:

  • Engaged with over 2300 individuals, small businesses and social enterprises in Scotland through a combination of 1-1 support, peer learning, mentoring and networking.

  • Around 700 of these clients were pre-startup or ready to launch a new business.

  • Held over 520 events with more than 6750 attendees.

  • And of course, many people who haven't gone on to start a new business have had other positive outcomes including new jobs and training, education and volunteering opportunities.

A Unique Community Support Model

Over fourteen years, GrowBiz has developed a unique approach to community-based support for rural enterprise - which has been cited as a model of best practice by the European Network for Rural Development.

GrowBiz’s unique approach draws on the principles of Ernesto Sirolli who believes that the growth that comes from within the community is the best and most sustainable type to have. Building on this GrowBiz services are anchored on local neighbourhoods helping to create vibrant thriving communities across rural Scotland.
