Become a GrowBiz Mentor

You do not need to have prior mentoring experience or business qualifications to become a GrowBiz mentor. All you need is some experience in running a business, managing a team, training or being involved in community development work. Our mentor training will show you how to hone and adapt these skills to the mentoring process. 

Why be a mentor?

There are lots of reasons to volunteer to be a GrowBiz mentor: 

  • Help someone grow personally and professionally 

  • Give something back to the rural economic community 

  • Receive high value training accredited by the Scottish Mentoring Network

  • Develop communication skills that will transfer to other aspects of life

  • Receive a digital badge from a  recognised, award-winning programme for use on your website, LinkedIn page and/or CV 

  • You are in control — you manage the frequency and time spent with your mentee

What will you not need to do?

You don’t need to provide mentees with advice on more technical aspects of business, such as accounting, marketing or stock taking. Simply point them back to the GrowBiz team — it’s what we’re here for!
